Hey there! So we have a bunch of people on staff for Black Nerd Problems and of the comic book reading crew, just about all of us read Bitch Planet.

In short, We’re quite fond of Kelly Sue and Valentine De Landro ‘s Bitch Planet. We’ve been following the comic from the start,  we’ve had a staff writer draw real life parallels to the panels from the comic and we’ve even interviewed some cosplayers who read and love the comic too. We review the comic as well.

Bitch Planet explores gender dynamics and agency (women having it/not having it) and completely dismisses the male gaze in our opinion.

It also serves a great example of what intersectional feminism looks like, from Kelly Sue doing the research about transgender folks by actual talking to them before writing the latest issue of BP (there’s a tumblr post that we want to link to but just can’t find at the moment), to having an actual Japanese female artist, Taki Soma do the art for Issue #6 which focused on a Japanese female character (AND back essay also written by Japanese vagina mold artist Rokudenashiko!) And there have been Black Women galore on the pages of the comic and after the pages with written commentary.

At the end of each issue are essays written mostly by women, there are tweets and photos and letters written by fans who, are mostly women. Bitch Planet also serves as a safe space for women (female identifying persons, etc) and especially to those belonging to more than one marginalized group. Bitch Planet should be credited for this and for also for the social issues it touches upon like the high numbers of incarcerated women of color in the prison systems and such.

So to answer your original question ”What is your collective opinions on Kelly Sue’s BP?” , We’re fans and recommend it. Pick up a copy and see where it takes you.

in case y’all didn’t hear about it… a 16 years old girl was raped by 33 MEN in my country, brazil. not one, not two, but THIRTY-THREE. here’s an article in portuguese if anyone wants to read it, translate it or whatever. here’s an article in english

she was filmed. her rapists posted a picture afterwards. the video went online. men made jokes about it. she was drugged.

on wednesday (one day before it happened) our new education minister met with a guy who made a rape joke on television in 2014, to talk about “education”. but nothing happened to that guy, because it was just “a joke”, right?

the media has not talked about it nearly enough, the news have not talked about this nearly enough.

also its important to mention that brazil is the country where most searches on porn websites are “transgender women”, and at the same time, brazil is the country with the biggest number of trans women killed, IN THE WORLD. (more than 600 deaths in 6 years - and thats only registered deaths).

there’s also a law being discussed in our congress that says that abortion is going to be prohibited even in cases of rape. it’s important to notice, that our congress, for the first time in decades, doesn’t have ONE SINGLE WOMAN in it. for the first time, since the military dictatorship from 1964, there are no women in the power - only old, cis, white, straight, religious men.

so, i dont know. i guess this is kinda a psa. i cant stand keeping this in our country only. our country is going through a massive crisis against basic human rights. conservetive men are dictating our future. if you think the us politics is bad then you should see it here.

also would like to add that only ONE MAN on my facebook timeline has talked about this. One. everyone manifesting are women.
